What is “Among Us”?

Among Us is a new game that has been building a massive buzz as of recent, and now that you can play it on your phone, it looks like they’re expanding the games’ reach! It used to be a game that was only available on PC, but the Among Us mobile application allows you to enjoy this social gaming experience while you’re on the go. That’s right, you don’t have to be sitting at home to play with your friends anymore - you can be on the train home from work and still manage to get a game in!

It’s perfect for those of us who live a busy lifestyle, and that’s something that I would associate myself with. I’m going to talk about why I enjoyed playing Among Us on my phone, as well as what I didn’t find so great.

How I Feel About Among Us

I wasn’t sure about the game going in, but all of my friends were playing it, so I had to join in on the fun. At first I was skeptical, as it’s basically a series of mini-games while one person plays the role of “Impostor”. The Impostor will go around killing people until you figure out who it is, or the entire team is killed; it’s essentially figuring out who the best liar in your friends group is!

It was loads of fun, although I will say it doesn’t offer the same sort of gameplay that you would find in other mobile applications. There are plenty of 3D mobile games that offer a lot in regards to visual effects, but Among Us is just a 2D problem-solving game that may not appeal to everybody.

Pro’s & Con’s

Pro’s

The game is a lot of fun when you have a group of friends to enjoy it with, but I’m sure there are times where you have fun with strangers as well. If you aren’t used to communicating with others using voice chat, this is not a game for you - the whole purpose is to work together and identify the killer before they work their way through the entire team.

The game has a bunch of different mini-games that will keep you entertained at first, and eventually you’ll develop your skills; eventually I was able to master most of the mini-games and get them done as quickly as possible. There’s a skill-based feeling to the game, but it’s also just a fun experience all-around!

Con’s

If you’re used to the mobile games that offer 3D graphics and tons of action, this might not be the title for you. Among Us is more suited for casual and young gamers, although there’s no age limit! You may also notice that playing with “randoms” is not an enjoyable experience most of the time, and I even came across a few “try-hards” myself!

All in all, it was a great game that I would highly recommend for anybody looking to kill some time in a fun fashion.
